Cattognano is located about 484 metres above sea level, and is a very quaint little village because it consists of several groups of houses built on tunnels, but sadly most of the houses are abandoned.

Only a few families have decided to restore and make this beautiful village their home. Here in the highest part of the Oratory of St. Joseph in the Baroque style, residues of frescoes are still recognizable today which belong to the family Turchetti, who used the buildings around it to Farm.

From Cattognano there are two beautiful and ancient paths one leading to the ridge at Prota and Groppo San Pietro and the other which goes past the Taverone to Tavernelle, in the municipality of Licciana Nardi.
